Dramatic Results Without The Drama
Hit the reset on your skin with incredible results while promoting the natural healing process.
What is Microneedling with SkinPen?
Hitting reset on your skin can be as simple as a short minimally invasive microneedling treatment. SkinPen creates micro-channels (microscopic holes) at a rate of 1600 per second with little or no pain. These wounds stimulate your skin, kicking its healing process into high gear. Best of all, SkinPen doesn’t rely on heat or chemicals, so the results are natural and safe for all skin tones and types. SkinPen® is a state-of-the-art, FDA-cleared micro-needling device. Microneedling tools typically roll the microneedles over your skin, but the SkinPen® is more accurate and much more effective.
It delivers tiny needle pricks vertically, which means it's more precise and can treat small areas that bulky rollers can't reach, such as the contours around your nose and mouth. Your skin will look and feel healthier with little downtime! SkinPen is extremely versatile and can be used on all body parts and on all skin types.
Your provider at REJUV Aesthetics & Wellness Encinitas or Carlsbad CA can adjust the length of the needle to customize your treatment, depending on your skin thickness and type. The SkinPen® controls needle action using a medical-grade motor that creates micro-injuries rapidly while minimizing cellular damage thus creating cellular turnover and collagen production. The result is highly effective remodeling of the skin while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.
SkinPen Works Using a Simple 3-Step Process
Inflammation
SkinPen’s microneedles pierce the skin, triggering your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue.
Proliferation
The micro-wounds created by SkinPen are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Remodeling
Remodeling The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels which are comprised of rich collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin youthfulness.
Frequently seen skin conditions that benefit from Microneedling include:
Wrinkles, creases and fine lines
Scarring from traumatic injury
Acne scarring
Stretch marks
Enlarged pores
Irregular, rough surface texture
Poor tone
Abnormal hyperpigmentation (melasma)
Sun spots

Microneedling FAQ
How is Microneedling Performed?
Microneedling can be performed using a SkinPen®, a medical-grade, state-of-the-art Microneedling application tool available only through medical professionals. The treatment typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the size and number of areas treated and the degree of treatment requested.
What areas of the skin can be treated?
SkinPen’s® variable needle depth allows for maximum versatility, making it safe and effective to use on a variety of parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage and more. Talk to your SkinPen® provider to discuss your specific goals & needs.
What can I expect during the treatment?
A topical anesthetic is applied approx. 15 minutes prior to treatment. Generally, patients report feeling just the slight vibration of the SkinPen® during the treatment with little or no pain.
Is there downtime after Microneedling?
The total healing time depends on each individual. Most patients have some slight swelling and redness/pinkness (like a mild to moderate sunburn) for two to four days following the microneedling procedure. Some flaking on days 2-5 is normal.
When will I see results?
The natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress through the course of several weeks although some experience immediate results within days. Damage that has occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately but progressively. You may not see the final result for up to several months following your final session. *Individual results will vary.
How many sessions are recommended?
The number of procedures required will be based upon your individual procedure goals and the overall health and quality of your skin. Most patients receive a series of three procedures spaced about four to six weeks apart.
